Maybe you are having some trouble unlocking Titanfall 2’s Inner Pieces Pilot Execution. At first, I had all sorts of trouble. Here are a few tips if you are scratching your head trying to figure this one out.

1) PERFORMING AN EXECUTION

First, you need to know how to perform an Execution, not a melee attack from behind. When you are properly aligned with an opponent from behind you will see the prompt to perform an Execution. If you aren’t lined up exactly right, if the guy moves, etc and you hit the right button, all you get is a melee kill and some frustration. Plus, the prompt to Execute is easily overlooked if you’ve never noticed it. See the sample below where I’ve added a yellow box around the prompt.

2) FINDING & UNDERSTANDING THE CHALLENGE

If you look at the screenshot above you’ll see the title of the Execution, a description of the Execution, and last, the challenge to Unlock it. The challenge to Unlock Inner Pieces is “Execute 50 Pilots.” That’s not a very fast challenge to complete since players in Titanfall 2 aren’t just standing around still very often. You’ll need to get behind an enemy player unaware, and even then if he’s moving around too much you may not get a nice, solid prompt to perform the Execution.

I’d also recommend making this a “passive” challenge, or one that you complete while doing other challenges. Maybe you can try unlocking Now You See Me. At least that gives you 10 of your 50.

3) MAKE SURE YOU GOT THE EXECUTION

Maybe you don’t know the difference between a melee kill and an Execution. If you think you hit the button when you saw the prompt the difference is this — a melee kill is instant and fast. Executions take longer and are much more stylish.

4) CANNOT USE PRIVATE BETA MATCH

I also found you cannot play a Private Match Beta round to get Executions that count toward your 50 Inner PiecesExecutions.

Good luck, Pilot!
